The India A team for the two multi-day matches against Australia A that will take place in Lucknow was revealed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday. The first match of the series starts on September 16, 2025, and the second match starts on September 23.
The series will be captained by middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer, with wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel appointed as the vice-captain. The team also includes both talented young players and well-known domestic performers.
Abhimanyu Easwaran, Tanush Kotian, and N. Jagadeesan, who have been on the periphery of the Indian Test setup lately but have not yet made their debut, will have the chance to play in the series.
Devdutt Padikkal, a brilliant left-hander, will get an opportunity to show himself and make the Test team recall. Padikkal would like to add to his two caps in the longest format. He last wore the white flannels for India against Australia in Perth during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series last year.
Following the Duleep Trophy final, which starts on September 11, the series between India A and the touring Australian team will start. It will act as a prelude to the West Indies’ two-Test tour to India, which starts on October 2.
