Apple made $14 billion worth of iPhones in India during the course of the previous fiscal year, indicating the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its global manufacturing footprint.

By increasing manufacture in nations like Vietnam and India, Apple has attempted to diversify its supply chain. This is a significant change for the iPhone manufacturer, as they have always relied on China for production.

The article stated that Apple currently produces twice as many iPhones in India as it did the previous year, or about 1 in 7 or 14% of all iPhones. As per the research, approximately 17% of those iPhones were assembled by Pegatron, and approximately 67% were created by Foxconn. The rest is Wistron’s creation.

The prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, was hosted by Apple CEO Tim Cook and other tech CEOs in the White House in June 2023. Following the meeting, Cook stated that India offers a “huge opportunity.” Last year, Apple launched its first retail locations in the nation.

Despite a difficult start to the year, Apple still counts China as a key market. According to a March Counterpoint Research research, China’s iPhone sales fell by 24% in the first half of 2024.
