‘Chandu Champion’: A tribute to Petkar
Chandu Champion chronicles Petkar’s rise from amateur wrestler to Indian Army boxer. Petkar was paralyzed from the waist down during the 1965 India-Pakistan conflict, but he recovered enough to learn to swim and win the country’s first Paralympic gold in 1972.
The film has received praise for its portrayal of tenacity and resolve; after a Delhi viewing, even Petkar broke down in tears.
Kabir Khan Films and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment produced the movie.
