Chelsea became the first team to win trophies in all four of UEFA’s club tournaments after rallying to defeat Real Betis 4-1 in the Conference League final on Wednesday.
All of Chelsea’s goals came in the second half, as the English team’s thrilling comeback in Wroclaw, Poland, was completed by goals from Jadon Sancho and Moises Caicedo. Within five minutes, Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson converted accurate crosses from Cole Palmer.
Betis, which was playing in its first European final, took the lead in the ninth minute thanks to a goal from Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, but they lost the second half.
Chelsea won the Champions League in 2012 and 2021, the Europa League, which replaced the UEFA Cup, in 2013 and 2019, the now-defunct Cup Winners’ Cup in 1971 and 1998, and the Conference League, a third-tier competition that was only established in 2021.
Chelsea’s triumph put a stop to Spain’s incredible winning streak in European men’s championship competitions.
Betis’ attempt to win a European championship for the first time was unsuccessful.
