Aditi Rao Hydari said that she simply followed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s orders and acknowledged not knowing about the famous Gajagamini walk in Heeramandi.
Actress Aditi Rao Hydari won praise for her superb performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Baazar as Bibbojaan. Her performance received a lot of applause, especially for the dancing portion. But the best part was her Gajagamini stroll at the beginning of the series. Aditi recently revealed that she wasn’t aware if the sequence was actually a Gajagamini Walk because she was only following director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directions.
Aditi Rao Hydari admits she was unaware of her well-known Gajagamini walk:
Aditi Rao Hydari acknowledged her doubts about the famous walk that is featured in the critically acclaimed television series Heeramandi in an interview with Zoom. “I want to ask somebody, Sanjay sir, my dance teacher, what is it?” the woman said. Is it the swan walk, the Gajagamini walk? I have no idea what walk that is.”
“I’ll say that I did it at Sanjay Sir’s request. Sanjay sir instructed me, and I did what he said. She went on, “I know there are two dances in Kathak, the Mayur Chaal (peacock walk) and the Gajagamini (walk of seduction). I’m sure there are other dances as well, but I should find out.” Saiyaan Hatto Jaao, a song, mentions this walk.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is someone Aditi Rao Hydari says she is guarding:
Aditi had previously discussed her feelings of great protectiveness for Sanjay Leela Bhansali in an interview with IANS. She also discussed her opinions on working with him. She made it clear that she thought he was valuable and should be protected. She considers it a great blessing that she has been able to collaborate with him on projects like Heeramandi, as it has allowed her to spend more time with someone she greatly admires and respects.
“And you know one, two, or three times are not enough with directors like Sanjay,” Aditi said, highlighting the enlightening experience of being in the company of a genius like Sanjay. Working with him is addictive; you want to keep doing it. I have no doubt that whatever part he assigns me will be exceptional.
