Despite the ongoing wildfire situation, Los Angeles’ “beauty and resilience” will be recognized at the 2025 Oscars event.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has informed its members in a letter how the Oscars will handle the continuing wildfire catastrophe in Los Angeles, according to The Reporter.

“We will honor Los Angeles as the city of dreams, showcasing its beauty and resilience, as well as its role as a beacon for filmmakers and creative visionaries for over a century,” the letter, signed by Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang. “We will reflect on the recent events while highlighting the strength, creativity, and optimism that defines Los Angeles and our industry.”

Additionally, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has declared that this year’s Oscar ceremony would not feature live performances of Oscar-nominated songs.

This year, the presentation of the best original song category will be centered on the songwriters rather than live performances. will honor their creativity by featuring introspective thoughts from the groups that make these tunes a reality.
