A 15-player lineup for the South African men’s upcoming three-match Twenty20 International series in the West Indies has been revealed by Cricket South Africa (CSA). The series acts as a warm-up for both teams before the 2024 T20 World Cup, which takes place in Jamaica from May 23 to May 26.
Alongside David Miller, Aiden Markram has been rested from the series against the West Indies. Markram is expected to captain South Africa at the World Cup. In absence of a permanent skipper, Rassie van der Dussen has been named Proteas captain for the short tour.
The West Indies T20I squad is announced by South Africa:
For the next three-match T20I series in the West Indies, CSA has rested several of its senior players from its 15-man roster, in lieu of the T20 World Cup 2024 that is scheduled for next month. The senior players rested by the selection committee include regular limited-overs captain Aiden Markram as well as David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen.
Being left out of South Africa’s T20 World Cup 2024 group, Rassie van der Dussen is leading the squad against the West Indies in Markram’s absence. Check out the schedule for South Africa’s upcoming three-match T20I series in the Caribbean, along with a look at the whole squad:
On May 23, May 25, and May 26, Sabina Park in Jamaica will serve as the host site for all three games. Players from South Africa will participate in an intra-squad game in Florida a few days after the series ends as part of their preparations for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Along with Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands, the Proteas are grouped in Group D of the competition. They will play their opening 2024 T20 World Cup encounter against Sri Lanka at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York on June 3, led by Aiden Markram.
