The trailer for Netflix’s next supernatural horror thriller, The Deliverance, with Oscar nominees Glenn Close and Andra Day, has finally been published. The movie is slated to premiere on August 30, 2024.

What does the trailer for The Deliverance show?

In the teaser, Day plays a single mother whose life is abruptly turned upside down as her three kids are taken over by unidentified evil powers. It focuses on some of the most horrifying parts of the movie, such as the exorcism scene starring Oscar contender Aunjanue Ellis. The movie is based on the true tale of Latoya Ammons, who experienced paranormal activity in 2001 after relocating to a new home.

A struggling single mother battling her own personal issues, Ebony Jackson relocates her family to a new house in hopes of starting over. Ebony finds herself engaged in a fight for her life and her children’s souls when unexplained happenings within the house prompt Child Protective Services to become suspicious and threaten to split the family.

Based on a script by David Coggeshall and Elijah Bynum, Lee Daniels is the director and producer of The Deliverance. Daniels and Day have collaborated on films before; their most recent project, The United States vs. Billie Holiday (2021), won Day a Golden Globe for Best Actress. Mo’Nique, Anthony B. Jenkins, Miss Lawrence, Demi Singleton, Tasha Smith, Omar Epps, and Caleb McLaughlin are among the other actors who appear in the movie. In addition to Jackie Shenoo, Hilary Shor, Greg Renker, and Gregoire Gensollen serving as executive producers, Tucker Tooley, Pamela Oas Williams, Jackson Nguyen, and Todd Crites are the production’s producers.
