The live-action Legend of Zelda film’s release date has been rescheduled. In November 2023, Sony Pictures and Nintendo announced their collaboration on a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda.
Production-related reasons seem to be the reason for the change from the original March 26, 2027 release date. The movie, which comes from Nintendo and Arad Productions, is being distributed by Sony. Alongside Arad, Shigeru Miyamoto, a fellow Shigeru and representative director for Nintendo, produced the film.
As a result, the Legend of Zelda film will now be released on May 28, 2027, the same month as Star Wars: Starfighter. Filming for the Shawn Levy-directed thriller, which stars Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth, is anticipated to start this autumn. This implies that casting announcements for The Legend of Zelda may be imminent and that production will probably start at about the same time.
However, no casting announcements have been made as of yet, and narrative specifics are still unknown.
Ball most recently directed the 2024 release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. In addition, he is renowned for having directed the Maze Runner trilogy, which consists of Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), and The Maze Runner (2014). Furthermore, it was revealed in August of last year that Ball is also developing a Ruiner video game movie for Universal Pictures.
