Recently, BMW Motorrad introduced the 2025 BMW F 900 R naked roadster and the 2025 F 900 XR adventure sports bike, both of which feature model year upgrade. All things considered, these new generation models will weigh less overall, have more standard features, and have upgraded hardware.
The new in-line two-cylinder engine produces 105 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. It complies with Euro 5+ emission regulations.
The Dynamic riding mode on the upgraded F models has been fine-tuned to provide “more riding pleasure and dynamics at a sporty pace.” Furthermore, engine drag torque control and dynamic traction control have been included as standard features. The latter allows bikes to avoid rear wheel spin, which is typically brought on by sudden throttle application. A new Akrapovič sports silencer is also available from BMW as an add-on.
The same three color options are available for both versions. While the base F 900 XR is painted Racing Red, the base BMW F 900 R is offered in a metallic paint scheme of Snapper Rocks Blue. For both models, the two remaining variations are identical. The Sport version has a light white with racing blue metallic paint job, while the Triple Black version is available in Blackstorm metallic.
Updates for the BMW F 900 R and F 900 XR’s hardware
One of the main features of the two new middleweight models is the adoption of new 43 mm telescopic USD front forks that are torsionally rigid. This allows for the customization of spring preload, rebound, and compression damping to suit specific needs. Fully adjustable rear monoshock units are still a feature of the F900 R and F900 XR.
New 17-inch cast aluminum wheels that weigh 1.8 kg lighter than the previous ones are a highlight of the revised vehicles. This results in both bikes losing a total of 3 kg in weight. The 2025 F900 R and 2025 F900 XR continue to use the same braking system, which consists of one 265 mm rear disc and two 320 mm front discs.
While both F models previously featured ABS, the 2025 upgrade introduces lean-sensitive ABS Pro as standard, offering assisted braking while cornering. Another innovation that has been included as standard on the new models is Dynamic Brake Control.
Aerodynamic and ergonomic improvements for the BMW F 900 R and F 900 XR
The ergonomics and riding triangle of the upcoming BMW F 900 R naked roadster have been updated. To provide a more specialized seating position that is noticeably sportier and closer to the bike’s front wheel, handlebars, footrests, and foot levers have been changed.
Improved touring performance and comfort are anticipated with the revised F 900 XR, which has been tuned for better aerodynamics. In order to lessen helmet vibrations and wind pressure on the rider, the front fairing has a new wind deflector. The bike also gets heated grips, and the handguards, which are now standard, have been upgraded to provide more wind resistance. Headlight Pro, which includes DRLs and an adjustable LED headlamp, is now standard on the F 900 XR. Additionally, the bike has a USB-C charging port on the right side that can handle up to 2.4 A of current.
Cost and availability of the BMW F 900 R and F 900 XR
Although BMW Motorrad has not confirmed the new F models’ updated prices, it is anticipated that they will be slightly more expensive than the previous variants. India is anticipated to host the introduction of the 2025 F 900 R and F 900 XR. The now-discontinued F 900 R was priced at ₹10.76 lakh (ex-showroom), while the older-generation F 900 XR is presently available at ₹12.55 lakh (ex-showroom).
