Test models of Mercedes-Benz’s next electric vehicle, which will join the C-Class line, have been observed.
The spy photos show that the style would differ from the existing gas-powered C-Class sedan, which was introduced to the US market for the 2022 model year.
The distinctive appearance of the electric C-Class should not only help set it apart from its gas-powered sister but also improve aerodynamic efficiency, which is essential for range.
A comparable approach is intended for an electric crossover that will become a part of the larger GLC-Class lineup. Additionally, GLC-Class electric prototypes have been sighted.
The electric C-Class prototypes are well concealed, but it’s possible that Mercedes’ Concept CLA-Class, which debuted at the 2023 Munich auto show and is a first look at an electric member of the next-generation CLA-Class family, had an effect on the design. Additionally, CLA-Class electric prototypes are being tested outside.
The car is probably built on Mercedes’ new MMA platform, which is mostly intended for electric vehicles but can also accommodate hybrids. The platform will be utilized by cars up to the size of the C-Class. Mercedes will have the MB above this. The AMG is the EA platform for full-size and medium EVs.EA for the Van and AMG’s high-performance EVs.EA for EVs in light commercial use.
Mercedes hasn’t released any details regarding cars built on the MMA platform, but it’s quite likely that at least one electric C-Class model, if not all of them, will have a range of at least 300 miles. The MMA platform will also have an 800-volt electrical architecture, as seen by the Concept CLA-Class, which will enable quick charging when utilizing a DC fast-charger.
As of right now, the electric C-Class is anticipated to go on sale in 2025, which means the American market will probably see it as a 2026 model. That roughly corresponds to the due dates for the electrified GLC-Class and CLA-Class.
