At a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Citroen India has finally introduced the eagerly anticipated Basalt Coupe SUV in the Indian market.

Design of Citroen Basalt

The model’s elegant, coupe-inspired style sets it apart from its sibling C3 Aircross, which shares the same platform. The French automaker’s recognizable chrome grille with two slats and the Basalt’s sleek, flowing roofline set it apart from other mass-market SUVs. It also has X-shaped DRLs and slim LED headlights. It has sporty alloy wheels with diamond cuts on the sides. The integrated rear spoiler, wraparound LED tail lights with a unique three-light stripe, and silver skid plates are additional highlights.

Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue, and Garnet Red are the five solid color options for the Basalt; the white and red versions have a blacked-out roof.

Citroen Basalt: Features

Inside, the Basalt is identical to the C3 Aircross, with a digital driver’s display that measures 7 inches, a manual IRVM, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A 15-watt wireless phone charger and adjustable under-thigh support for the back seats are two of the Basalt’s distinctive features. A three-spoke steering wheel, electrically adjustable ORVMs, cruise control, dual-tone interior design, and dedicated rear AC vents are some of the other notable features of the cabin.

Numerous safety features are available in the Basalt, including as electronic stability control, a rear parking camera, six airbags, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Citroen Basalt: Engine

This SUV’s 1.2-liter gasoline engine options are as follows: a three-cylinder NA motor with 82 horsepower and 115 Nm, or a 110 horsepower turbo-petrol engine. Regarding torque, the latter generates 205 Nm when using the AT and 190 Nm while using the MT. Having said that, the normally aspirated engine can only be matched with a manual gearbox, but the turbo-petrol engine can be found with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
