Billionaire industrialist Sajjan Jindal announced on Thursday that every Indian athlete who secures a medal at the ongoing Paris Olympics will be awarded an MG Windsor car. The Chairman and Managing Director of JSW Group expressed on X, formerly known as Twitter, his delight in recognizing the dedication and success of Indian athletes with such a prestigious reward, stating, “Our best deserve the best.”
This announcement follows Morris Garages India’s unveiling of their new CUV, the MG Windsor, in collaboration with JSW Group. The design of the MG Windsor draws inspiration from the architecture of Windsor Castle, embodying exquisite craftsmanship, excellence, and a sense of royalty. The UK-based company highlighted the vehicle’s imposing design, emphasizing that every component reflects the same level of premium quality and grandeur as Windsor Castle.
Mr. Jindal’s announcement quickly garnered attention, with his post receiving over 76,000 views and nearly 500 likes in just a few hours. Comments flooded in with users praising the initiative. One user called it a “Great initiative,” accompanied by a clapping emoji, while another commended Sajjan Jindal and JSW for their support of Indian athletes, stating, “Saluting our Olympians with such an amazing gift! Sajjan Jindal and JSW, you’re champions of Indian spirit.” Other comments included expressions of approval and encouragement, with several users using thumbs-up emojis.
In addition to this gesture, JSW Group is responsible for designing the official Olympic uniform for Team India this year. According to the company’s website, the outfit symbolizes the essence of India’s unique culture and terrain, incorporating advanced features to enhance athletic performance.
India has secured three medals so far at the Paris Olympics, all in shooting events. Manu Bhaker claimed a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event and later won another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with her partner, Sarabjot Singh, became the first person from India to take home two medals from the same Olympics. She is now aiming for a third medal in the 25m pistol event.
The third medal was won on Thursday, August 1, by rifle shooter Swapnil Kusale, who earned bronze in the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event. This medal marks India’s first Olympic medal in the 50m Rifle 3P event. However, India also faced setbacks, with boxer Nikhat Zareen and the men’s doubles badminton pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty being eliminated from their respective events on the same day.
