31,440 Genesis cars made between 2021 and 2023 are being recalled by Hyundai due to problems with the fuel pump component, which might lead to an impeller deforming under extreme temperatures and the fuel pump shutting off.
12,763 model years of the Hyundai Genesis are included in the recall. GV70 Genesis, 14,414 2021–2023 Vehicles: 1,364 2022–2023 Genesis G90, 2,899 2021–2023 Genesis G80, and Genesis GV80.
According to the Hyundai Genesis recall, the low-pressure Genesis fuel pump assembly has an impeller that may distort in high temperatures, interfering with the fuel pump housing and creating a mechanical resistance that could cause the fuel pump to shut off.
According to the recall, a shutdown may limit fuel supply to the engine, causing an abrupt decrease in power or loss of power and raising the possibility of a collision.
The defective impeller’s construction material was replaced in September 2022.
Hyundai did not clarify if it has not yet heard of any injuries connected to the recall.
The Genesis fuel pump problem recall states that in September 2022, a change was made to the raw material utilized in the production of the impeller.
On June 18, Hyundai will mail owners a letter asking them to take their cars to a Genesis dealer so the low-pressure fuel pump assembly can be inspected and replaced for free.
