Ajay Devgn has once again delivered a strong box office performance with Raid 2, which has officially surpassed the earnings of Shaitaan to become the sixth highest-grossing Hindi film of his career. Released on a Thursday, Raid 2 got off to a robust start, earning ₹19.25 crore on its opening day. The film showed solid momentum throughout its theatrical run, driven by positive word-of-mouth and Ajay’s loyal fanbase.
Ajay Devgn returns to play role of the resolute and honorable income tax officer Amay Patnaik in this sequel to the spectacular Raid from 2018. He appears alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor in the film, which was directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. The first week itself brought in an impressive ₹95.75 crore, showing consistent audience interest through both urban multiplexes and single screens in mass markets. While the weekdays saw the expected dip, the weekends kept pushing the film’s earnings higher. The second weekend added an additional ₹25 crore, and by the end of its third Sunday, the movie had reached a commendable ₹149 crore in total collections.
Raid 2 earned ₹148.21 crore which formally surpasses Shaitaan with this amount. While Shaitaan-a supernatural thriller released the previous year-was also a major success, it now slides down in Ajay Devgn’s personal box office rankings, making way for Raid 2 in the sixth position.
What stands out about Raid 2’s journey is its ability to thrive despite the challenges posed by other new film releases and the concurrent IPL season. The movie’s consistent weekend surges and widespread appeal helped it maintain momentum where many films falter. With recent hits like Singham Again and Shaitaan, Raid 2 only strengthens Devgn’s stature as one of the most reliable stars in the industry. Next up for him is the much anticipated De De Pyaar De sequel, which was released on November 14 and starred Rakul Preet Singh and R. Madhavan.
