Red Bull and McLaren have revealed key upgrades ahead of the United States Grand Prix, which could play a pivotal role in shaping their F1 title campaigns. The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, is the battleground for the next round of the season, with Red Bull aiming to reclaim dominance after going winless in the last eight races.
This Grand Prix has been a significant target for Red Bull, who hope to regain momentum and get back on the podium. Although they’ve slipped down the pecking order in the second half of the season, Max Verstappen still holds a strong lead in the drivers’ standings, sitting 52 points ahead of Lando Norris.
Red Bull’s upgrades for the race include a new floor with a “revised edge wing camber over rearward third,” aimed at generating more local load, as well as a revamped engine cover designed to improve cooling.
Meanwhile, McLaren, which leads the constructors’ championship, is also pulling out all the stops to close the gap on Verstappen in the drivers’ race. The team has introduced a suite of upgrades, including modifications to the front wing, front and rear suspension, and front brake ducts. Additionally, McLaren has made cooling enhancements through brake duct changes and added a revised beam wing to reduce drag.
Mercedes has also rolled out new components for the weekend, with updates to the front wing, front suspension, and floor. The team has concentrated on engine cooling, refining the engine cover and sidepod inlets. Aston Martin has taken a similar approach, focusing on the front wing, engine cover, floor, and rear diffuser.
Alpine has brought a significant upgrade as well, but it will only be featured on Pierre Gasly’s car. The modifications include a new floor, a reprofiled rear wing, and an updated engine cover. Haas, competing in its second home race of the year, has also introduced new parts, including changes to the floor, as it aims to close the gap on Red Bull in the standings.
Ferrari and Williams, in contrast, did not announce any upgrades for the US Grand Prix.
For fans, there’s an added bonus: Red Bull is giving away 10 scale models and 10 caps as part of a YouTube promotion.
