As electric scooters continue to gain popularity, many companies are now shifting their focus towards electric motorcycles to gain an edge in this rapidly expanding market. Revolt, a leading name in the Indian electric motorcycle industry, is preparing to launch a new, budget-friendly model on September 17. This upcoming bike, tentatively referred to as the AW1, has not yet had its detailed specifications or features revealed, leaving much to anticipation before the official debut.
Ola Electric recently launched its Roadster series, emphasizing the growing demand for electric motorcycles. Nevertheless, Revolt remains a veteran in the sector, having established itself early on. Currently, Revolt offers the RV400 and RV400 BRZ models, and with the AW1, the brand looks to add a third bike to its lineup. Leaked information suggests that AW1 stands for “Are We One,” though given Revolt’s usual naming strategies, it could potentially be branded as the RV1 when officially released.
The AW1 is expected to feature a sleek, street-style design with a neo-retro twist. According to leaks, the bike will come with round headlights featuring circular LED DRLs, side panels reminiscent of the RV400, and a commuter-friendly frame with a spacious seat to enhance rider comfort. This design approach appears to target daily commuters seeking both style and practicality.
Compared to the RV400, the AW1 (or RV1) is expected to feature RSU telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers. One major change is the switch from the RV400’s belt drive to a more cost-effective chain-drive system. While chain drives require regular maintenance, the AW1 compensates by including a center stand for convenience. Additionally, the bike is likely to come with accessories such as a sturdy grab rail, a leg guard, and a headlight visor.
The AW1 will reportedly come in two variants, the V1 and V2, each with different battery sizes. The V1 model is rumored to have a 2.2 kWh battery, offering a range of over 100 km on a single charge, while the V2 could feature a larger 3.24 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 150 km. Both variants are expected to come with a mid-mounted 2 kW electric motor, possibly including a reverse mode for added ease of use.
Currently, Revolt’s most affordable bike is the RV400 BRZ, priced at Rs 1,02,250. The AW1 is anticipated to be positioned as a more budget-conscious option, with a price likely to be well under Rs 1 lakh, possibly around Rs 80,000. This price point could make it a strong contender against the Ola Roadster X, which is priced at Rs 75,000.
