The dual-cylinder Exter models now available for purchase through CNG were announced by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) today. With a starting price of Rs. 8,50,300 (ex-showroom), Hyundai joins the bi-fuel bandwagon with the “Hy-CNG Duo,” which offers excellent fuel economy without compromising trunk space.

The 1.2L Kappa engine, which is only available with a five-speed manual transmission, provides power to the Hyundai Exter CNG. It can run on both gasoline and CNG. An integrated Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in the factory-installed CNG system of the SUV is supposed to provide a smooth transition between driving on gasoline and CNG.

Speaking on the debut of the Exter Hy-CNG Duo, Tarun Garg, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, “Hyundai Motor India Limited is committed to providing sustainable and innovative mobility solutions. Electric sunroof, LED tail lamps and DRLs, automated climate control, a 20.32 cm touchscreen infotainment system, six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), TPMS Highline, and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) are just a few of the features it offers. The Exter CNG single-cylinder variant is also sold by the nation’s second-largest automaker.

The Hyundai Exter has sold over 93,000 units since going on sale last year, and the introduction of the CNG version is anticipated to increase sales even more. Exter Knight SX (ex-showroom) costs Rs. 9,38,200, while SX MT costs Rs. 9,23,300.

The 69 PS maximum power and 95.2 Nm peak torque of the powertrain are produced by the company-fitted CNG system, which is backed by a three-year warranty. The water equivalent volume of the CNG tank is 60 liters.
