The Harrier and Safari, Tata Motors’ flagship vehicles, have been updated. The latest upgrade adds level two Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) capabilities to the Tata Harrier and Safari. OTA updates are used to update the vehicle.
The latest update adds ADAS capabilities like auto emergency braking and lane keep assist to the Tata Harrier and Safari. A few ADAS elements were previously included in both cars. Among these features were overtaking assistance, lane departure warning, rear collision warning, and traffic sign recognition. With the latest update, the ADAS package of both SUVs now includes 12 functions.
Safety characteristics of the Tata Harrier and Safari
The top models of the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari have seven airbags in addition to a 360-degree surround view camera, electronic stability control, emergency call, tire pressure monitoring system, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and hill hold control. Both vehicles have six airbags as standard.
It’s interesting to note that the Bharat New Car Assessment Program assessed the Tata Harrier and the Tata Safari initially. Although both models received a five-star crash test safety rating in the BNCAP tests, they also received a five-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test. In the adult protection category, Tata Harrier and Safari scored 30.08 out of 32, while in the child protection category, they scored 44.54 out of 49.
Additional Updates on the Tata Harrier and Safari
The Tata Harrier and Safari received an upgraded color scheme in addition to improved ADAS technologies. The Ash Grey color was formerly limited to the base Smart and Pure trims of the Harrier, but it is now available on higher trims, such as the Adventure and Fearless versions. Previously exclusive to the Adventure trim level, the Seaweed Green color is now offered on the Fearless trim level as well.
Previously exclusive to higher trims, the Pebble Grey and Coral Red color schemes have made their way down to the Smart and Pure trims. While Sunlit Yellow is still a trim-specific option for the Fearless, Lunar White is available for all Harrier trims. The Dark Edition option with the Oberon Black finish is available for the top three trims.
Additionally, the colors of the Tata Safari have been moved. The lesser Smart and Pure trims now come in the StarDust Ash and Galactic Sapphire colors, while the Adventure and Accomplished trims now come in the Lunar Slate finish.
The top-of-the-line Accomplished trim now has the Supernova Copper color choice, which was previously only available on the Adventure trim level. The Stellar Frost color choice is available for all Safari trims, but Cosmic Gold is limited to the top model. Similar to the Harrier, only the top three trims are available for the Safari Dark Edition.
