Movie theaters will soon be hosting the much anticipated return of Five Nights at Freddy’s, the highly criticized 2023 horror game adaption that also became an enormous commercial success. In a Wednesday CinemaCon 2024 presentation, Universal Pictures revealed a new film, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
Emma Tammi’s return to directing Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 was not mentioned in the presentation, nor were there any further cast members confirmed. Universal did reveal that the next Blumhouse film will be finished in time for a fall release the following year, despite the lack of information surrounding it. Considering the previous film’s nearly $300 million global box office haul, the news of the sequel shouldn’t come as a huge surprise.
Numerous additional horror announcements for 2025 were made at Universal’s presentation, including Wolfman, which was helmed in January by Leigh Whannell of The Invisible Man. More significantly, Universal revealed that M3GAN, another 2023 horror blockbuster, will have a sequel in 2025.
