The Mahindra Thar’s popularity in India is well-known to all. That’s the kind of SUV with an incredible cult following. There are several SUVs in the market besides the Thar, including lifestyle SUVs. It faces competition from SUVs such as the Maruti Jimny and an impending rival soon. Why, then, did we include the reasonably priced G-Wagon in the title? Is that a genuine Mercedes-Benz product? Not really, though! But wait, the SUV we are discussing is the Force Gurkha, which takes inspiration from the more costly Mercedes-Benz in terms of both design and engine.
Design of G-Wagon:
We can see the futuristic Force Gurkha’s tall stance up front. It has circular LED headlights surrounded by circular LED DRLs. An arrangement similar to the G-Wagon. Despite its modest size, the strong GURKHA inscription is housed within the grille. Don’t forget to check out the turn indicators mounted on the bonnet, which resemble the costly G-Wagon once more.
The 5-door Gurkha’s first appearance is seen in the side profile. Given that it is now an even taller SUV, it should to have a reasonable road presence. Although the teaser image displays new alloy wheels, the 16-inch size may remain unchanged. Though the back profile is still unknown, we can make out the vertically positioned tail lamps-which don’t seem to be LEDs. The SUV is reportedly equipped with many attachments, including a roof rack, jerry can, and a rear ladder; however, the snorkel is an original fitment.
Specifications for the Gurkha Force:
The engine is comparable to the Mercedes G-Wagon if the design is identical to that vehicle. It is anticipated to continue using a 2.6-liter diesel engine from Mercedes that can provide 250 Nm of torque and 91 horsepower. Even on the 3-door model, the engine seems underpowered, thus Force needs to retune it. Giving Force an automated transmission option in addition to the 5-speed manual gearbox is another way to make it better.
Cost and Launch:
Unexpectedly, Force intends to revive the 3-door in addition to the new 5-door model. We can anticipate its arrival by the end of this month, as the brand has already unveiled the first teaser. And what about the cost? There was only one version option available for the Gurkha 5-door, and it cost Rs 21 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
