The trailer for Sirocco and the Kingdom of Winds, a limited-edition French psychedelic fantasy animated film, has been released in the United States. This happens a year after the movie’s international premiere at the 2023 Annecy International Film Festival, when it was awarded the Audience Award.
For just two evenings, Sirocco and the Kingdom of Winds will be presented in theaters across the country. August 11 will see the release of the brand-new English dub, while August 12 will see the release of the original French version with English subtitles.
What is the story of Sirocco and the Winds of the Kingdom?
Summary: Upon discovering an enchanted toy one day, the daring Juliette and her sister Carmen are carried away into the Kingdom of the Winds. After they are changed into cats, they discover a fanciful new realm populated by mind-blowing creatures like technicolor dragons and flying divas. The Mayor delivers Juliette to the stunning singer Selma and orders Carmen to wed his son as punishment when Juliette causes an accident that infuriates the locals. The sisters need to find a way out before the wedding bells ring, but Sirocco—the enigmatic magician known for his violent storms—holds the key to getting home.
Benoît Chieux directed Sirocco and the Kingdom of Winds. He and Alain Gagnol co-wrote the screenplay. Briauna James as Agnès, Tallula Dinsmore as Carmen, Élia St-Pierre as Juliette, Lucinda Davis as Selma, Terrence Scammell as Sirocco, Marcel Jeannin as The Mayor, Wyatt Bowen as The Mayor’s Son, and Bruce Dinsmore as The Toy will all be included in the English dubbing of the movie.
