Citroen has unveiled the concept version of its most expensive car to date, the C3 Aircross SUV, after the release of the C3 Hatchback. It’s appropriately titled Basalt Vision Coupe SUV and it challenges the newly arriving Tata Curvv. The production-spec Basalt SUV will use the same CMP platform that powers the C3 and C3 Aircross. It appears to have an extended wheelbase similar to the C3 Aircross, and the SUV coupe design is attractive.
Citroen Unveils the Basalt Vision Coupe SUV:
Basalt Vision is a Coupe SUV that will compete with vehicles like the Tata Curvv, and it is based on CMP architecture similar to the C3 and C3 Aircross. Compared to the C3 and C3 Aircross, it has superior features and will be priced more.
Citroen Basalt Vision follows closely to the Citroen design language used in the Indian portfolio. We now have an upright bonnet and reshaped upper and lower air barriers, like the C3 Aircross, up front. The big black-finished grill covering the bottom rectangular air dam is larger than the C3 Aircross.
The lower bumper, which adds a lot of muscle, is slightly different from the C3 Aircross bumper and has a silver skid plate-like look. We can observe a projector headlight configuration contained in a square chrome element as compared to the C3 Aircross’ fascia. But there are still additional changes to the profile.
Firstly, the once-round wheel arches on the C3 Aircross have been coated gloss black and have taken on a squarish shape. Basalt Vision has a new back door in addition to missing roof rails and door covering. The main feature is the sloping coupe roofline, which has a very stylish, sporty, and attractive appearance.
The 5-spoke design alloys on Basalt Vision may also be 17-inch wheels, compared to the clover-leaf 4-spoke 17-inch wheels on the C3 Aircross. There are new LED wrap-around tail lights and a rear spoiler design suggestive of a Lamborghini, similar to the Nissan Magnite. The tailgate is hatchback in form, even though it has three boxes. Although there won’t be a rear wiper or washer because of the coupe style, there will be a rear defogger.
Modification from Inside:
Only the exteriors are visible in the official photos; Basalt Vision’s interiors are still hidden. The location of it suggests that the interiors may be similar to those of the C3 Aircross, but with more features and equipment. It is possible to keep the instrument console housing, steering wheel, and arranged gear lever.
There may be more features including fully digital TFT instrument console, 10.25″ horizontal screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and larger AC vents in the center. Expect push-button start, keyless entry, automatic climate control, auto lighting and wipers, auto-dimming IRVMs, maybe ventilated seats, and auto-folding ORVMs, among other deluxe features. There was no sunroof included in this specific design.
Expect the same 1.2L 3-cylinder with only one turbocharger. With a 6-speed manual transmission, this motor can produce 110 PS of peak power and 190 Nm of peak torque; with a 6-speed torque converter, the output can reach 205 Nm. It is expected that launch will occur later this year. Prices should start at less than Rs 10 lakhs.
