With its foldable phones, Huawei has been rather popular in China. Rumor has it that the company will be releasing a new model next month.
A source close to Huawei has disclosed on Weibo that the Chinese phone manufacturer intends to host a New Year’s Eve event in February wherein it will unveil a “new small foldable product” codenamed “LEM,” according to Gizmochina.
Pre-orders for the gadget may begin as soon as February 10, the day after Chinese New Year, according to sources.
The specifics of the future item are still unknown to us. However, there are rumors that Huawei’s in-house 5G Kirin chipset will be included in this upcoming foldable phone.
The mystery phone will fall into the mid-range market, similar to Huawei’s Nova series, according to IThome, which obtained the exclusive information from Weibo.
The source did not specify if Huawei’s upcoming foldable will be in the Fold or Flip form. But it’s reasonable to presume that this is a flip phone considering the talk about it being a “small” foldable. Furthermore, it appears that this new gadget will only be available in China.
There are three foldable smartphone lineups available from Huawei. The top models are the Mate X and Mate Xs from Huawei. The Xs versions fold outward, whereas the X models open up like a book.
In the meantime, the Galaxy Z Flip lineup’s flip-style smartphone is reminiscent of the Huawei Pocket lineup. Thus, it is likely that the future Huawei foldable will be a part of that series.
The newest model on the block, the Huawei Pocket S, made its debut in late 2022. Nevertheless, in contrast to the other Android OEMs, Huawei does not schedule these releases for every year.
