On October 8, 2024, the revised BYD e6—dubbed the eMax 7 for the Indian market—will make its public debut. The e6 electric MPV was first released in India three years ago for the commercial market by BYD, the largest electric vehicle manufacturer in the world, and was later made accessible for personal use.

In essence, the BYD M6 will be the eMax 7 for India. It made its debut in the globe at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in July 2024. On the other hand, more interior amenities and innovations are anticipated for the India-spec version.

The exterior includes a redesigned LED headlamp cluster with new daytime running lights and illumination arrays. Minor modifications are also made to the back, including updated LED tail lamps. There have been changes made to the front and rear bumpers, and new alloy wheel designs will be unveiled. A larger 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen entertainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is a notable improvement within the cabin. Updates have also been made to the center console.

The BYD eMax 7’s equipment list includes a number of contemporary conveniences that are intended to be comfortable and convenient. It will have a reworked switchgear for better ergonomics, an updated drive selector, and a new multifunctional steering wheel. It will come equipped with keyless entry and two wireless smartphone chargers for drivers that are tech-savvy. Automatic climate control, cruise control, and ventilated front seats are examples of comfort features. ADAS technology, a motorized tailgate, and a panoramic sunroof will also be included in the car.

It will also feature an analog instrument dashboard, six airbags for protection, and headrests that can be adjusted. The Standard 7 Seater, Superior 7 Seater, and Superior Captain 6 Seater are the three versions of the BYD electric three-row MPV that are offered elsewhere. There are two battery choices available for it: a 55.4 kWh battery with a 420 km range and a 71.8 kWh battery with a 530 km range on the NEDC cycle. What battery options and versions are available in India would be interesting to watch.

A 115 kW DC fast charger can swiftly charge the BYD eMax 7 from 10% to 80% in under 40 minutes. The standard model has an electric engine that produces 163 horsepower and 310 Nm, but the top-tier Superior trim has a more potent 204 horsepower motor that can accelerate the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds.
