Earlier this year, Nothing launched a community initiative with the goal of creating a Nothing Phone (2a) that was co-designed with its community. The project is finally finished, and on the 30th of this month, a special edition named Nothing Phone (2a) Community Edition will be released.

Four key areas separate the Community Edition from the original Phone (2a): look, packaging, new wallpapers, and marketing campaign.

The phone’s rear design is where the biggest differences may be found. Its glow-in-the-dark design, which makes it quite unusual for a smartphone, is achieved by the use of phosphorescence.

The special edition gadget also includes custom wallpapers. It is said to mix hand-drawn elements with many tools for sketching, digitizing, AI generating, and post-editing to produce a distinctive, multi-layered, and complex process. The final product gives the Nothing Phone (2a) Community Edition a new look while adhering to Nothing’s design language.

Along with the phone, the packaging box has been updated to match the new color. Aside from the hue, another intriguing visual change is that the revised package box now only features one camera lens rather than two.

Nonetheless, the Community Edition device’s internal hardware is unchanged. Here is a summary of the features of the Nothing Phone (2a) for those who are not familiar with them.

Specifications of the Nothing Phone (2a):

  • The phone has a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display on the front that can manually attain 700 nits, 1100 nits in bright light, and 1300 nits when playing HDR content.
  • Operating on the Mediatek Dimensity 7200 Pro (4 nm) chip, the phone has a 5000 mAh battery and 45W rapid charging capabilities.
  • The phone has two 50MP cameras on the back: an ultrawide 1/2.76′′ sensor and a primary 1/1.56′′ sensor with optical image stabilization. A 32MP selfie camera is located on the front.
