What drives you to keep working hard each day?
I’ve done a lot of the things I want to do in my life, and I definitely believe that money doesn’t equal happiness. What keeps me going isn’t earning more money. What drives me is the desire to live my life to the fullest. On my deathbed, I want to know I pushed as hard as I could to do what I wanted to do. On the flipside, I also want to be a symbol of what’s possible. I want people to see that you can live a successful life, be happy, and do things that everyone else tells you that you can’t. I want to show that you can achieve all of this while being a good person and not sacrificing yourself for success.
What makes you stand out from others in your field?
A lot of entrepreneurs talk about the hustle and grind, and it’s true. You do need to work really hard to start a business, especially early on. But work isn’t my life. I’m not sacrificing everything to earn a bunch of money. I’m focused on living a masterpiece of a life, not on being the richest guy in the world.
If you had to start over, what would you do differently?
I would focus on adding value and creating win-win situations from the beginning. I think a lot of beginning entrepreneurs are thinking, “How can I win?” “How can I make money?” That doesn’t make them bad people by any means, but they’re focused heavily on themselves. When you get to a certain level, you realize that the key to winning for yourself is to help other people win. I would go back and tell myself to focus on helping others, instead of focusing solely on what I can get.
