History of Senegal Independence Day
From the fifteenth century, the district presently known as Senegal had pulled in the consideration of the European colonial powers.
Before the finish of the seventeenth century, France had assumed responsibility for the area around present day Dakar as adequately an staging post for the Atlantic slave trade.
It wasn’t until the center of the nineteenth century that the French expanded their control further into the mainland, taking over practically all the neighborhood kingdoms.
In April 1959 Senegal converged with the French Sudan to frame the Mali Federation. An exchange of power agreement was marked with France on 4 April 1960, which prompted formal independence on 20 June 1960.
The Mali Federation proved to be very short-lived and separated on 20 August 1960, when Senegal declared its independence.
