After a period of beta testing in December 2024, Elon Musk’s xAI has officially launched the standalone Grok app for iOS users in the United States. Previously, accessing Grok required an X Premium subscription, which started at $8 per month. However, with the introduction of a free tier model, users can now experience the AI assistant with certain limitations. Under the free plan, users are allowed up to 10 requests every two hours and three image analysis requests daily. These restrictions apply equally to the standalone iOS app and the integrated version on X.
