On August 13, Google is scheduled to unveil the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the company’s newest foldable gadget and the first in the Pixel 9 smartphone line. This release signifies a change in Google’s naming convention, incorporating the foldable device into the main Pixel 9 lineup. Recent leaks have provided a glimpse into the device’s design, color options, and potential pricing. According to a report by 91Mobiles, citing insider sources, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be available in two storage configurations: 256GB and 512GB.
The report suggests that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold models will be priced at $1,799 and $1,919 in the US, respectively. These prices are consistent with the launch prices of its predecessor, indicating that Google has decided to maintain its pricing strategy for this second-generation foldable.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to feature an 8-inch Super Actua main display and a 6.3-inch Actua cover display, both larger than those on the original Pixel Fold. The device is rumored to come in two color options: Obsidian and Porcelain.
In terms of functionality, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is anticipated to include various AI-powered features such as Circle to Search, Magic Editor, and Best Take. Additionally, a new feature called ‘Add Me’ is rumored to allow users to seamlessly integrate individuals into group photos using AI technology.
One notable aspect of this release is that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be launching in India, marking the first time a Google foldable device will be available in that market. The pricing for the Indian market is yet to be announced, especially considering the premium pricing of the US models.
As with all pre-release information, these details should be considered speculative until officially confirmed by Google.
Meanwhile, as Google’s flagship smartphones near their launch, a recent leak has shed light on what to expect from the Pixel 9 series. Recently revealed renders provided a detailed preview of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL models, showcasing their design and color options. Interestingly, a pink version seems less colorful than previous images leaked in this leak. Sudhanshu Ambhore shared on X what seem to be official images of both devices.
