The high-end iPhone model with a new makeover and a smaller chassis may take the place of the Plus model starting next year, according to US tech giant Apple. A 9To5Mac the report, which cites The Information, claims that Apple is developing a 2025 “iPhone Slim” model, which will significantly change the iPhone lineup’s design in the wake of the iPhone X.
2017 saw the release of the iPhone X series, which significantly changed the range. Along with FaceID and OLED screens with smaller bezels, the iPhone X also got rid of the home button.
According to the rumor, the iPhone Slim would have a lower dynamic island space and a screen that falls between the 6.69-inch screen of the Pro Max models and the 6.1-inch screen of the vanilla iPhone. The smartphone would have a rear camera module positioned in the center of an aluminum chassis.
The source added that the revised iPhone model would be “much thinner” than the models of the current generation and would probably take the place of the iPhone Plus model, which is expected to be phased out in 2024 following the release of the iPhone 16 model. It is possible, however, that the cost of this iPhone model will be more than that of the Pro Max variant.
The corporation is still evaluating various designs for the model, according to the report, thus the final design for the updated iPhone has not yet been approved. It’s also possible that the “iPhone Ultra” name will be assigned to this iPhone variant.
According to a Medium post by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will be using a stainless steel battery casing for the first time with the next iPhone 16 series. The expert claims that aluminum, which Apple currently employs, dissipates heat more effectively than stainless steel. On the other hand, it gives the device’s overall construction additional rigidity and improves battery protection. Kuo added that Apple will make it simpler to remove the battery from the new iPhone in order to meet with new EU regulations relating to the repairability of devices. This is in addition to the new design of the battery container.
