The Kia EV9 launched in India at a price of Rs 1.30 crore (introductory, ex-showroom pan-India) following its nearly 1.5-year global debut. Based on the same E-GMP platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, the EV9 is a vehicle. In India, the flagship Kia EV is offered for sale as a completely built unit (CBU).

Design

The EV9’s boxy, SUV-like form belies its futuristic appearance, which is enhanced by contemporary LED lighting components. Up front, it has vertically aligned headlight configuration with LED DRLs called “star map lighting,” which produces an animated lighting pattern, and digital pattern lighting built into the grille. The EV9 also sports a tapered roof line, vertically stacked LED tail lights, a blacked-out bumper, and a silver skid plate on the back.

Cabin & Features

The Kia EV9’s interior has a basic floating dashboard design that is completed in black. One of the standout features is its triple screen arrangement, which consists of two 12.3-inch screens connected by a 5.3-inch climate control display. The dashboard panel has practically hidden touch-input controls for the media, climate control and ventilation system, start/stop, and other settings, below the primary screen.

The India-spec EV9 also has separate sunroofs for the first and second rows, a digital IRVM (internal rear view mirror), leg support for the first and second row seats as a relaxing feature, and ambient lighting with 64 colors. Captain seats with an 8-way power adjustment and a massaging feature are available in the EV9’s second row.

Several airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) with functions like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and automated emergency braking are all part of the EV9’s safety package. In ANCAP and Euro NCAP crash tests, this electric SUV has already received a 5-star safety rating.
