Meta Expands WhatsApp Ads With New Click-to-Message Status Feature

Now that Meta is broadening its options for WhatsApp advertisements, companies can show click-to-message ads that take users to a WhatsApp Status update rather than a direct message.

Back in June, Meta introduced advertisements in WhatsApp Status, allowing marketers to show their campaigns in between friends’ full-screen WhatsApp Status posts.

Additionally, Facebook and Instagram Click-to-Message advertisements are available from Meta, allowing marketers to start a direct conversation with potential customers through their in-stream promos.

Meta is now giving some advertisers the option to combine the two as well.

As per Meta:

“You can create ads that click to WhatsApp and use the WhatsApp Status placement. Ads in WhatsApp Status will only appear in the Updates tab, which is the home of Status and Channels and is separate from personal chats and calls. When people click on your ad, they’re sent directly into a chat with your business on WhatsApp.”

It’s basically the same as the WhatsApp Status advertising mentioned above, but consumers may click over from Facebook or Instagram to these promos, which will display your promotions in full screen with a chat call to action.

That might be an additional strategy to increase WhatsApp engagement, which is expanding as a forum for conversation in new areas. There are currently 100 million users of WhatsApp in the United States, and since click-to-message advertisements improve performance and are becoming more and more popular with companies, you might want to take them into account for your larger Meta connection strategy.

You might not have access since, according to Meta, WhatsApp Status advertising are not yet available in every location. However, those that do will soon have more options for drawing attention and generating response through their DM-aligned promotions.
