Fans of BlackBerry devices who long for a real keyboard might want to check out Clicks, a firm that makes keyboard cases specifically for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro models.
Before CES, Clicks is showcasing their keyboard accessories, and its iPhone 14 Pro keyboard will be available for purchase in February. The keyboard costs $139; an iPhone 15 Pro version will be available in mid-March, and an iPhone 15 Pro Max version, priced at $159, will be available in the spring.
The Clicks Creator Keyboard adds a tiny physical keyboard to the bottom of an iPhone and is available in “BumbleBee” yellow and “London Sky” gray. Clicks claims that the keys are optimized for click resistance and feedback so that typing is quick and precise, and the case design is intended to “feel like a natural extension” of the iPhone.
Keys to access emoji, activate dictation, and activate shortcuts like scrolling and going back to the Home screen are all included on the normal QWERTY keyboard. One can activate an integrated backlight for nighttime use.
The keyboard on an iPhone is compatible with passthrough charging and can be connected by Lightning (for the iPhone 14 Pro) or USB-C (for the iPhone 15 Pro). The case does not include MagSafe, however it does enable wireless charging.
With a length of 188.45mm, the Clicks keyboard for the iPhone 15 Pro is 41.85mm longer than the 146.6mm model. That translates to 1.65 inches, thus an iPhone that has this keyboard should be more than 1.5 inches longer. It is 2.50mm thicker and slightly wider than the iPhone. With a weight of 62 grams, the case is little less than half the 187 grams of the iPhone 15 Pro.
The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max versions have comparable dimensions, therefore the keyboards do contribute significantly to the phone’s bulk. According to Clicks, the keyboard is simple to install and take off, and it functions as a hardware-based keyboard when in use, thus the software keyboard is hidden from view.
The Clicks website allows pre-orders for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Clicks, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max version can be reserved for $30.
