Great news for music enthusiasts-Apple Music has introduced a new feature that makes it easier than ever to transfer playlists to YouTube Music, simplifying the process of switching between the two popular streaming platforms. This feature, available through Apple’s Data and Privacy page, enables users to move their playlists seamlessly without losing any data from their current Apple Music account.
To take advantage of this feature, users must meet a few conditions, including having an active subscription to either Apple Music or iTunes Match, as well as an active YouTube Music account.
The tool is designed to transfer only the playlists that users have personally created, including any collaborative playlists they own. However, it does not support the transfer of uploaded music files, playlists that have been shared but not collaboratively owned, or curated playlists. Additionally, any organizational folders set up for playlists in Apple Music will not be transferred. Content such as podcasts, audiobooks, and user-uploaded files are also excluded from the transfer. Apple notes that only songs available on YouTube Music will be successfully transferred.
To begin the transfer, users should navigate to Apple’s Data and Privacy page, sign in with their Apple ID, and select the option to “Transfer a copy of your data.” The process will guide users through signing into their YouTube Music account to finalize the transfer. During the transfer, Apple will send email notifications to the email address linked to the user’s Apple ID.
Users can monitor the progress or cancel the transfer at any time through the Data and Privacy page. The transferred playlists may be found under YouTube Music’s Library tab after the transfer is finished, and Apple will send a confirmation email. It’s important to note that if a song from a playlist is not available on YouTube Music, it will be omitted from the transfer. Additionally, any changes made to the playlist after the transfer will not be reflected in YouTube Music, and canceling the transfer will leave any playlists that were successfully transferred intact in YouTube Music.
