Since OnePlus and Oppo officially announced their partnership to create new smartphones and software, it has been two years. The firms will soon release a new foldable phone, despite the fact that the intention to use the same OS for both brands was abruptly shelved in 2022.
The new foldable phone will launch with different names but will use the same design language, according to Pete Lau, the CEO of both Oppo and OnePlus.
The OPPO team and the OnePlus team worked together to build this foldable phone. Because we want to combine the strengths of the two teams and create a synergy. “This folding phone will have a different go-to-market strategy in different regions so that more users will be able to get their hands on this device,” Pete Lau claimed. Both teams have acquired significant experience.
The next foldable phone will reportedly be called the OnePlus Open, and Oppo may refer to it as the Find N3, according to the most recent reports.
The new device will have the most advanced, strong hinge and include a number of exclusive technologies. Despite the fact that Oppo has already released two folding phones, the new model is expected to contain at least 31 less parts and be 37% more robust than earlier Find N2 series models.
Through the Unbox Therapy YouTube channel, OnePlus has already provided a sneak peek at the OnePlus Fold. In comparison to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 series, it has a much larger cover screen, and the inside foldable display panel will be considerably bigger.
The large circular camera module, however, was hidden in the sneak peek video. However, the phone and the one that made news in India are quite similar. Anushka Sharma, an Indian actor who plays in the Bollywood film industry, was spotted in Mumbai holding the OnePlus folding phone.
The alert slider, a mute/ring button seen on all premium OnePlus phones, will be included on the upcoming foldable phone, the company has revealed.
What is known about the OnePlus Open as of right now?
The cover panel of the OnePlus Open is expected to have a 6.3-inch screen, which can expand inside to an 8-inch widescreen when opened.
As previously said, it will include a reliable hinge to hold the two display panels that should last the consumer for many years.
According to reports, the foldable phone would include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It has a 4,800mAh battery, 12GB RAM, 256GB (and more) of storage, and 67W fast charging capabilities.
It is expected that the camera hardware will include a triple-camera module with a 48MP + 48MP ultra-wide lens + 64MP telephoto lens, supported by a LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor and LED flash on the back. Additionally, it will have two selfie cameras, one with a 20MP sensor on an interior broad display and the other with a 32MP sensor on the cover panel.
While the Oppo Find N3 is rumored to have ColorOS, the OnePlus Open is expected to use OxygenOS. There is no information on whether the software will be based on Android 13 or the next Android 14 series, though.
According to numerous reports, the OnePlus Open may be made available in the US, India, Europe, and other specific nations. The Oppo Find N3 series, on the other hand, is expected to be exclusive to China.
On October 19, OnePlus Open is expected to go on sale.
