August will see the release of two additional new cars from German automaker Mercedes-Benz, following the weeks-long debut of the EQA electric SUV and an improved EQB in India. On August 7, the CLE Cabriolet and the AMG variant of the GLC SUV will be unveiled. After the latest generation of the best-selling SUV from the German stable was unveiled in 2023, the AMG GLC 43 Coupe will be the first model to be sold in India. The CLE Cabriolet will be Mercedes-Benz’s third convertible model available in India, following the E 53 Cabriolet and the SL 55 Roadster.

Mercedes AMG GLC 43 Coupe:

Following the discontinuation of the previous generation model, the Mercedes GLC SUV, in coupe form, is scheduled to make a reappearance in India. Last year saw the debut of the GLC 43 Coupe, which was built upon the new generation GLC SUV. Mercedes has not stated whether the model, like its predecessor, will be produced domestically in India. Among the most notable modifications will be a new engine and upgraded appearance.

The 3.0-liter, six-cylinder gasoline engine that powers the new GLC SUV will not be used by Mercedes. Instead, the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine in the AMG coupe model will use mild hybrid technology. The engine can produce up to 500 Nm of peak torque and 415 horsepower of power. The AMG GLC Coupe’s output will increase by an additional 12 horsepower thanks to the mild hybrid technology. The engine will be matched with the nine-speed automatic transmission seen in the majority of Mercedes vehicles, providing power to all four wheels. This SUV has an electronically controlled top speed of 250 kmph, but it can sprint from zero to hundred kmph in just 4.7 seconds.

Mercedes CLE Cabriolet:

On August 7, Mercedes will also swap out the C-Class Cabriolet for the new CLE convertible in its portfolio. Its foundation is the same platform that powers the E-Class and C-Class models. The new E-Class served as inspiration for various aspects of the CLE Cabriolet’s design. The convertible’s front face resembles that of the updated C-Class. With a 12.3-inch digital driver display and an 11.9-inch infotainment screen, the interior is also almost unchanged. Additionally, the four-seater convertible is longer than the C-Class and E-Class coupes of the previous generation.

Under the hood, the CLE Cabriolet is anticipated to be driven by a 2.0-liter mild hybrid four-cylinder engine and a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that together provide 375 horsepower and 500 Nm of peak torque. An automated nine-speed transmission will be linked to the engine.
