The Poco brand from Xiaomi specializes in mid-range smartphones that typically include high-end features that you’d only find in flagship models. The previous Poco F5 series were excellent mid-range phones with specs comparable to those of phones from much larger manufacturers, but at a lesser cost.
On paper, Xiaomi’s new phones appear like a wonderful option if you’re looking for a mid-range phone with reliable hardware and up-to-date software, and the Poco X6 and X6 Pro are no exception.
Despite the extra “Pro” in the name of the more costly model, there is not much of a difference between the two. For instance, the 6.67-inch AMOLED screens on both phones have a refresh rate of 120 Hz, which is typical of a flagship phone.
In addition, they have 16-megapixel selfie cameras and 8/256GB and 8/256GB of memory. The 64-megapixel primary sensor (with OIS), the 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and the 2-megapixel macro camera are all part of the same triple camera setup.
The chipset is the primary distinction between the two Xiaomi phones. While Poco X6 Pro is packed with MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300 Ultra processor, the vanilla Poco X6 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset.
Not to mention, Xiaomi’s Poco X6 Pro is the company’s first mid-range smartphone to come pre-installed with HyperOS, an Android 14-based operating system. The Poco X6, its brother, is still on MIUI 14—which is based on Android 13—although Xiaomi has stated that an update is on the way.
Xiaomi revealed that the Poco X6 and Poco X6 Pro would retail for as little as $250 and $320, respectively, when they go on sale worldwide. They won’t be available in the US, but they will undoubtedly be available in Europe.
