Early on, it was clear that Samsung intended to release several of its most eagerly awaited AI features outside of the Galaxy S24 series. A number of devices not included in the most recent releases will soon receive the One UI 6.1 update, which includes all of its AI features. These are exciting new features.
Samsung promoted the new AI functions as a major selling point when the Galaxy S24 series was first revealed. Because Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is better positioned for onboard AI than earlier SoCs, the new hardware highlights those features.
Once updated, those functionalities can operate on other devices, such as the Galaxy S23 series. It is exactly what we are hoping to see—AI functions included in the next One UI 6.1 Galaxy phone upgrade that is on the way to some handsets.
Older devices will get access to Galaxy AI features
Circle to Conduct a Google Search
This new feature from Google makes it simple to use Google Search from any program, at any time. You can access a new overlay by touching and holding the home button or the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.
With that overlay, you can use Google’s search bar, turn on voice search, and use Google Lens to shoot pictures. You can also use this function to draw around any screenshot you take and add it to Google Search.
Once you get the muscle memory down, the tool is really useful. In the past, you could use Chrome, Google’s website or app, or the home screen of your phone to access Google Search. The new function, dubbed “Circle to Search,” adds a capture tool and provides faster in-app access.
Real-time Interpretation and Translation
One of the best things that you probably won’t use until you really need it is live translation. In essence, the AI-powered tool turns any phone call into a translation tool.
Live Translate can translate and re-generate your voice into another language when you are speaking with someone who doesn’t understand it. You will hear a voice that has been produced in your language when the other side speaks.
The best thing about this upgraded AI capability is that it only requires Live Translate on one end, so it can be used to translate text from an iPhone to a Galaxy phone.
Interpreter mode functions as a newly created translation app when there are no phone calls. By creating a split-screen view of live discussions, the gadget eliminates a significant amount of the back-and-forth involved in translation.
Chat Support
Chat Assist functions as an AI tool in the majority of Samsung Keyboard apps to assist you in reorganizing your language. communication Assist can be useful in a number of communication situations, whether it’s through Google Messages, Samsung Messages, or another service like Telegram.
It can serve as an additional translation tool, to start. You will see both your original text and the translated text when you use the translation option. The same protocol is applied to incoming messages, allowing you to be fully informed about the conversation’s progress.
The style tool is an additional Chat Assist feature. You are free to write content in any way that feels natural to you and to alter it later to conform to a particular style. You can make a casual sentence a little bit more professional, for example.
Editing in Generative
In essence, Samsung’s Generative Edit is Google’s Magic Editor. Despite the striking similarities between the two apps, Samsung’s version emerges as a formidable rival.
With the help of this tool, you may select certain items in any image and move or remove them. AI will assist you in choosing items and filling in the spaces left by them.
In general, it performs passably while creating backgrounds or new objects. It will undoubtedly get better with time and provide more use cases.
Which Galaxy models are set to receive this update?
Samsung claims that many Galaxy smartphones will receive the One UI 6.1 upgrade, which includes the aforementioned AI functions, rating back over the previous year. It makes reasonable to make this change because earlier chips could only offer these functionalities through a connection at most.

- Galaxy S23
- Galaxy S23+
- Galaxy S23 Ultra
