The Galaxy A55 was officially unveiled by Samsung earlier today, after a plethora of leaks had previously provided us with all the information we required. The phone’s up to 12GB of RAM is an interesting feature that has been revealed as of late.
For the first time, a Samsung mid-range phone will come with 12GB of RAM to go along with the unique new Exynos CPU that powers the Galaxy A55. With an AMD-powered GPU, the Exynos 1480 should potentially allow the A55 to give some of the best performance we have seen on a mid-range Galaxy phone, especially for gaming. We will have to test the phone to find out how the new chip performs, though.
There are various RAM options available for the Galaxy A55. 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage, or 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, are what you receive. How readily accessible the model with 12GB of RAM will be is still to be determined. Although Samsung hasn’t released that information yet, once the Galaxy A55 goes on sale or is available for pre-order, you should be able to find out on the official Samsung website whether the 12GB edition is available in your nation.
As of March 11, the price of the Galaxy A55 is €479 for the 8GB+128GB version and €529 for the 8GB+256GB edition. The price of the 12GB+256GB configuration is not yet known. The specific release dates vary by location, but sales begin later this month.
