The Siri-enabled AR glasses to be released by Apple in 2026

In the rapidly evolving tech landscape, Google recently unveiled a teaser of its upcoming Android XR smart wearable, positioning it as a direct rival to Meta’s widely recognized Ray-Ban smart glasses. This preview arrives just days after OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman revealed his collaboration with Jony Ive – the iconic former Apple designer – and his hardware venture ‘io’, to develop a new generation of AI-driven hardware products. Now, according to a report from Bloomberg, Apple is preparing to make its own move into the smart wearable segment, with a stylish pair of smart glasses expected to debut sometime next year.

Unlike Apple’s Vision Pro headset, which envelops the user’s face much like oversized ski goggles, the upcoming glasses are designed to mimic the look and feel of traditional sunglasses. However, they will be embedded with an array of compact smart components, including precision sensors, discreet cameras, high-fidelity microphones, and miniature speakers. These elements will enable wearers to receive notifications directly in their line of sight and experience seamless navigation prompts, much like those anticipated in Google’s new glasses.

What sets Apple’s glasses apart is their ability to project essential information without compromising visibility. Notifications will be overlaid subtly in the wearer’s field of view, allowing them to remain aware of their surroundings while staying connected. Additionally, users can expect full integration with Siri, Apple’s digital voice assistant, enabling hands-free control for answering calls, composing and sending messages, and performing quick tasks without needing to reach for a smartphone.

In a related advancement, Apple is also reportedly developing a foldable iPhone slated for a 2026 release, aligning with the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone. This device is expected to feature a flexible, crease-free display, encased in a robust metal frame with a durable hinge mechanism. Furthermore, in 2027, Apple is planning a bold design overhaul reminiscent of the iPhone X launch, with a sleek model featuring an edge-to-edge glass design and an ultra-minimal bezel structure.
