Apple has rolled out the visionOS 2.4 update for the Apple Vision Pro, marking a significant advancement for the mixed reality headset. This latest update introduces a suite of Apple Intelligence features, enhancing user experience with AI-powered tools. Among the standout additions is Writing Tools, which enables text summarization, editing, and proofreading while offering options to generate lists, highlight key points, and improve grammar and spelling.
Another major feature is Image Playground, a dedicated app utilizing generative AI to create visuals from user-provided prompts. With this tool, users can select reference images from their Photos app and experiment with various artistic styles. The app also incorporates Genmoji, allowing users to craft custom emojis that can be inserted into messages, used as stickers, or shared as Tapbacks.
AI-driven capabilities now extend to the Photos app, where users can conduct searches using natural language queries to quickly locate specific images. Additionally, the Create a Memory Movie feature allows artificial intelligence to generate movies by identifying themes within selected photos, crafting a structured narrative, and assembling the content accordingly. In communication apps, Smart Reply has been introduced to streamline responses in Mail and Messages, enabling quick and contextually relevant replies.
Apple has also introduced Spatial Gallery, a feature designed to showcase curated content selected by the company. Other refinements include support for Priority Messages in Mail, Mail Summaries, Image Wand in Notes, and Priority Notifications within the Notification Center. The update also enhances the Notification Summaries feature, ensuring users can manage alerts more efficiently.
Privacy remains a priority for Apple with this update. The company assures that personal photos and videos processed through these AI-driven features are not shared externally, and on-device processing is utilized whenever possible to safeguard user data. For instances requiring more powerful AI models, Apple employs Private Cloud Compute, ensuring that data remains secure without being stored or accessed by the company.
