In South America, Volkswagen unveiled the updated Nivus model. The subcompact crossover, which goes by the name Taigo in Europe, gets new technology and style elements. A new Nivus GTS trim level with aggressive styling cues and a stronger engine will be available in 2025.

The facelifted Nivus features a considerably smaller grille, a much wider bumper intake, and revised headlights with a full-width LED strip. These characteristics, which borrow VW’s most recent stylistic cues, are akin to those of the new Tiguan.

New 17-inch wheels finished in piano black and diamond patterns complement the design. Only a new bumper with an alternative skid plate and more contemporary LED graphics on the darkened taillight cluster are visible on the rear. The new Titan Blue and Turbo Blue hues have broadened the color range.

The sporty specification will be identified by a new set of version-specific 18-inch alloy wheels, a distinctive honeycomb pattern on the lower bumper intake, and GTS logos on the grille, profile, and tailgate.

The dashboard within appears familiar, but the 10.1-inch touchscreen display is now powered by more contemporary software and offers additional connected car capabilities like remote lock/unlock, live position tracking, remote horn and warning light activation, valet mode, and more.

The central display is paired with an 8- or 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, depending on the trim level. Rearview cameras, wireless charging, automatic climate control, and adaptive cruise control are all included as standard features. additionally enhanced the contact points’ and upholstery’s materials.

A 1.0-liter three-cylinder, carry-over turbocharged engine (200 TSI) that can run on ethanol and gasoline is located under the hood. With ethanol, the mill produces 128 horsepower (96 kW / 130 PS) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque, all of which are sent to the front axle through a six-speed automated gearbox.

It’s likely that the future VW Nivus GTS will have the same specs as the mechanically identical Polo GTS. A 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine (250 TSI) producing 148 horsepower (110 kW / 150 PS) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque powers the hotter supermini.

In Brazil, the facelifted VW Nivus is now on sale, with prices starting at R$136,990 ($24,480). It’s still unclear if the updated VW Nivus’s modifications will transfer over to the European-spec Taigo.

Three subcompact SUVs from VW will soon be available in South America: the recently redesigned T-Cross, Nivus, and an even smaller entry-level model that will go on sale in 2025.
