On Tuesday, Opera introduced its latest innovation – a brand-new browser called Opera Neon, designed with a strong focus on artificial intelligence to streamline digital workflows and automate online tasks such as shopping, form-filling, and even writing code. This next-generation browser aims to serve as more than just a browsing tool; it’s built to act as a smart assistant that can handle various activities for users.

Although Opera Neon is now only available via a waitlist, users will need to subscribe in order to utilize its entire feature set once it is made generally available. While Opera has yet to reveal the pricing structure, the subscription model suggests it’s targeting power users and professionals who may benefit from AI-driven capabilities.

After newly designed sidebar the interface has Cutting-edge features of Opera Neon’s that are three buttons named Chat, Do, and Make. The Chat button offers an AI-powered conversational interface, functioning like a smart chatbot that helps users browse the web, answer questions, and provide contextual insights about the web pages they’re visiting.

The Do feature makes advantage of Opera’s proprietary Browser Operator AI, first made public in March. This intelligent agent can carry out everyday online tasks like completing forms, booking travel arrangements, and managing other repetitive actions directly within the browser environment – all processed locally for privacy and speed.

Another powerful addition is the Make feature. Opera claims that with just basic text prompts, users may create imaginative and useful outputs including games, webpages, reports, and code snippets. These advanced AI workflows are powered through a cloud-based virtual machine, allowing the browser to continue working on user requests even if they go offline. Users can also execute multiple tasks in parallel, enhancing productivity.

While the capabilities sound impressive, such promises from AI tools often face real-world challenges in execution. It’s also worth noting that Opera isn’t alone in this space – The Browser Company and Google are actively developing AI-first browsing experiences aimed at task automation and intelligent search.
