There has been work on a new pick-up truck, according to Kia. It is slated to launch under the Tasman name in 2025. In areas like Korea, Australia, Africa, and the Middle East, Kia Tasman will make its debut in the C-segment pick-up truck division. The Tasman will mix versatility geared at a lifestyle and work-focused capacity, according to the company.
Not much is known about the new pickup truck as of yet. An eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission will be coupled to a 2.2-liter, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. Rumor has it that Kia will also offer the Tasman’s 2.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which is paired with a hybrid drivetrain. Given that it’s a pickup truck, a 4×4 system or all-wheel drive will be available. Additionally, a low-range gearbox and differential locking might be available. In the future, Kia may also release a high-performance variant with a V6 drivetrain.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz, Volkswagen Amarok, and Ford Ranger will be the Kia Tasman’s main competitors. In Australia, Kia has been testing the pickup truck for a while now. There is currently no word on whether the company plans to ship the Tasman to India.
However, Kia is introducing the Clavis, a brand-new SUV, to the Indian market. With the Clavis, which will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, the maker hopes to launch a new market niche. The redesigned SUV may come in early 2025, with an estimated unveiling by the end of 2024.
The three-row electric SUV EV9, developed by Korean automaker Kia, will launch in India in 2024. The automaker disclosed its plans to introduce the EV9 electric vehicle and the next-generation Carnival in India early next year. After the EV6, the EV9 will be the Korean brand’s second electric vehicle and its first three-row EV.
