Instagram has made it much simpler for users to create the profile layout and visual aesthetic they have always wanted. The Meta-owned platform has officially launched the ability to rearrange posts on a profile grid, nearly a year after Instagram chief Adam Mosseri revealed that the feature was on the way. Starting today, users worldwide can move posts around on their grid regardless of when those posts were originally published. “We know this is long overdue, but we wanted to take the time to get it right,” Meta told the publication. We can confirm that the feature is already available on our accounts.

The option to reorganize the Instagram grid has consistently ranked among the platform’s most requested features, and Meta had been working on it long before Mosseri publicly confirmed its development last year. Alessandro Paluzzi, known for reverse-engineering applications and uncovering unreleased features, first spotted an “edit grid” function within the Instagram app back in 2022.

If you no longer want your content displayed strictly in chronological order and would prefer greater control over your profile’s appearance, the process is straightforward. Visit your profile and press and hold any post. In addition to the existing “Pin to main grid” and “Archive” options, you will now find a new feature called “Reorder grid.” Selecting it opens a separate screen where you can drag and reposition posts until your profile appears exactly as you envision it. Keep in mind that any posts pinned to your profile will remain fixed at the top and will appear dimmed within the “Reorder grid” interface.
