Another Google Home update is currently being rolled out, introducing a Gemini-powered “Pet Memory” feature for Nest Cam users while further broadening the availability of “Ask Home.”
For users enrolled in early access, Google Home is now delivering two major enhancements.
“Ask Home” through voice commands, including on smart speakers, is now available across all regions where Gemini for Home is supported. These markets include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. While some of these countries already had access, all Gemini for Home users can now ask their voice assistant questions that Gemini answers using real-time data from smart home devices and Nest Cam cameras.
Germany has also been added to that list, as Gemini for Home voice assistant early access support is launching there starting today. The expansion also brings German-language support to users in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany.
The most significant addition, however, is the arrival of “Pet Memory” for Nest Cam.
Using “Ask Home,” users can now provide Gemini with their pet’s name and description. Gemini will then use that information in future notifications and when responding to user queries. As a result, a generic alert such as “a dog is walking in your kitchen” can instead become “Fido is walking in the kitchen.”
All of these new features are currently rolling out to users participating in the early access program.
