Samsung Expands One UI 9 to Galaxy S26 Series

Samsung is extending One UI 9 to additional Galaxy smartphones following the interface’s debut on the company’s latest foldable models. A little more than a month after the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8 and Flip 8 started shipping, Samsung is beginning the One UI 9 rollout to the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra today. The update is also arriving on the Galaxy S26 FE, which launched this month.

This means more users of traditional slate-style smartphones can access features such as My FanCam. The tool can automatically crop recorded video around a particular person, even when that individual moves through the frame. For example, at a concert, users can record the entire band with a wide shot while My FanCam automatically crops the footage around their preferred member in the selected aspect ratio.

One UI 9 also brings a range of additional AI-based capabilities. Now Brief introduces new generative and editable cards intended to give users greater control over the information displayed in their daily summaries. Samsung says Now Nudge can use personal context across the Galaxy ecosystem to provide suggestions, including making it easier to bring reservation information into a text conversation.

Interpreter gains a new Thread View that aims to make translated conversations easier to follow by allowing users to review earlier parts of the exchange more conveniently. Samsung also says Conversation Mode translations are now faster. Similarly, Voice Recorder can produce summaries in a clearer, more organized structure, with elements such as headings and tables.

Document Scan is receiving an update designed to simplify the process of capturing curved book pages and pages with folded corners, reducing the need for extensive manual adjustments. One UI 9 additionally introduces Security Brief, which provides malware warnings and highlights other security concerns, along with Privacy Alerts. Scam call detection is also being expanded to Japan, Canada and India.
