The Pakistan football team has arrived in India for the SAFF Championship, but more than half of the players will only arrive six hours before kickoff. The match between Pakistan and India is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The team, which had been playing in Mauritius, has been on the road for 17 hours and has asked the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), the game’s organizers, numerous times to reschedule it. ESPN, on the other hand, is aware that the SAFF has stated that this will not be possible and that the game will proceed as planned today.
The Pakistan squad left Mauritius on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. local time and arrived in Mumbai at 1 a.m. on Wednesday. The team was split between two flights from Mumbai to Bengaluru because they were unable to locate 32 tickets on a single flight. However, the second group, which included 14 players, was unable to catch their flight because of airport delays.
“Despite the fact that there were no officials at the passport control office, we landed in Mumbai at 1:30 a.m. “They came after thirty minutes and gave us a few forms to fill out, including the visa form, which we had already filled out and given to the authorities before we got to Mumbai,” Pakistan’s team manager Hasnain Haider told ESPN.
“The procedure took quite some time, and the first group, which consisted of six players and six team officials, barely managed to board their flight at 3:55 in the morning. However, because their forms took longer to be approved, the second group—14 players and six officials—missed their flight,” he added.
