Madonna fans received an early taste of one of the new songs from Confessions II over the weekend thanks to Martin Garrix. “Bizarre,” a track set to appear on Madonna’s upcoming album release (street date: July 3), made an unexpected debut during Garrix’s performance at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Saturday night (June 13).
Garrix played “Bizarre” over a driving dance rhythm, accompanied by a pink-and-purple light display, which appears to be the signature color palette of the Confessions II era. The June 13 performance marked the final show of a three-night run at Barclays Center as part of his Americas Tour.
On Sunday night, Garrix posted a video on Instagram showcasing the preview of the song from Saturday’s concert.
“Who knew love could be so bizarre?” Madonna is heard singing in the song’s chorus. “Only love could be so bizarre.”
“Bizarre” is the 10th track on Madonna’s 16-song album Confessions II and becomes the fourth song to be previewed ahead of the album’s July release. She previously unveiled the album-opening track “I Feel So Free,” followed by the Sabrina Carpenter collaboration “Bring Your Love,” in April. “Love Sensation” was released in early June.
Confessions II, the follow-up to 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor, sees Madonna reuniting with producer Stuart Price and marks her first album release since returning to Warner Records. The project is also Madonna’s first new studio album in several years, following Madame X, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2019.
Madonna recently introduced CONFESSIONS II – The Film, which debuted at Tribeca Festival in New York City and is currently available to stream on YouTube. Earlier in June, she also staged a surprise pop-up performance for Pride Month in Times Square, coinciding with the official opening of the new venue The Square at Broadway and 47th Street.
